DUNLOP UKULELE STRINGS

HOW Magazine InHowse Design Award 2014

Dunlop Ukulele Strings were designed to harken back to traditional Hawaiian elements, a high-end tiki, if you will. The goal was to create a design system that evoked a sense of high-end style and refinement, but at the same time felt substantial and bold to the consumer.

One of the biggest challenges was finding the right illustration style. I explored a multitude of refinement levels, from extremely loose sketches to highly refined vector graphics. I ultimately ended up somewhere in the middle; drawing every element with ink and then digitizing for reproduction.

The string set has been on the market for 11 years and remains a top-seller in the ukulele market.
