The initial launch of the Bass Synth sold out within one day. The design challenge for this product was find a way to exude the qualities of an analog synthesizer while maintaining the MXR brand’s firmly established elements. Through research and study of vintage synthesizers such as the Moog and other obscure units, we arrived at a subtle solution through color. The palette included an “aged synth” black paint, “vintage white” Helvetica screen printed labeling, and most importantly, a set of orange and blue color coded knobs that signal a nod to the original Moog Synth interfaces. The casting of the unit also boasts a fine bead blasted texture that adds a high-end tactility to the look and feel of the product in-hand.
